At least with classic ESX, patches are staged to /var/cache/(mumble). On my phone right now and don't remember exact, but the patches are obvious there. Remove them and VUM figures it out. Read them all, for both the major release such as vSphere 6.7 Release Notes, and for the patch release, such as ESXi 6.7 EP 02a. Step 2 - Follow Prerequisites. Once you've completed ALL of the following preparation steps: Upgrade to the latest VCSA. This is very important for 7.0, you won't be able to connect ESXi 7.0 hosts to VCSA 6.7!
